Government Steps Up Security Measures,Encourages Use of Toll FreeNumbers to Report Terrorism

Security measures have been stepped up in the country in the wake of this week's terrorist attacks. There has been reinforcement of controls along the roads, systematic identification of persons (carry your identification documents with you everywhere), day and night patrols, etc.
Three three toll-free numbers are available to enable the population call and report any suspicious actitivities: 1500, 113 (National Gendarmerie) and 117 (Police).
This is part of a vast sensitization campaign by government to encourage collaboration between the population and security.
Several suspects have been arrested in the town of Maroua, in relation to Wednesday's suicide bombings which killed 13 (the number is reported to have risen to 14, following the death of one of the seriously injured victims in hospital). The Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defense, Edgar Alain Mebe Ngo'o was bearer of the Head of State's message of comfort and solidarity to the victims, as well as financial support.
