The Team
Responsibilities
Attending client meetings to gather information and advise clients on legal matters concerning Infrastructure, Commercial/Corporate Ohada Power, Oil and Gas and Mining matters
Reviewing and interpreting legislation and applying it to the client's commercial situation
Preparing and drafting legal documents
Conducting research and sharing knowledge on legal developments with team members
Working collaboratively with colleagues from other practice groups and offices to obtain advice on legal issues outside the area of specialism
Proactively engaging in, and initiating profile-raising and business development activities
Liaising with government authorities where relevant
Preparing a personal development plan and contributing to broader practice business plan
Any other duties as reasonably required by the partnership or management team
Legal Knowledge & Expertise
Demonstrates high technical competence in all core areas of practice / demonstrates substantive knowledge and able to draft main documentation
Learns to draft and interpret a series of related and/or complex documents
Able to draft and prepare new precedents within department
Prepares client updates and liaises with Marketing to have the information prepared as a synopsis for publication purposes

Builds network of external contacts (being more selective as to who might generate work opportunities / which contacts might generate referral opportunities)

Desired Skills and Experience
LLB or LLM or JD
Must be an admitted Attorney.
At least 4-8 years of experience (ideally within different legal disciplines) with a proven track record in contract negotiation and drafting.
Proven track record of providing accurate and effective legal counsel; and
Proven track record of adding value to an organization through the development of comprehensive contract documents that mitigate risk and penalties.
Have extensive experience in Legal and Commercial aspects of International Contracts and International Corporate Framework.

UN Women supports improved UN coordination and accountability mechanisms, and up-scaling of the quality of support provided to Member States in addressing national gender equality priorities.
Since 2014, UN Women Cameroon is very much involved in ensuring a gender-responsive inter-agency response in support of government efforts to assist refugees, internally displaced persons and vulnerable host communities affected the CAR conflict in the East, Adamaoua and Far North Regions. To enhance the already exiting initiatives, UN Women Country Office has requested from the Government of Japan additional funding to scale up its activities that include: psychosocial support to victims, economic rehabilitation, awareness raising on SGBV issues and capacity building targeting both the refugee populations and the vulnerable host communities.
In support to the successful implementation of the programme, UN Women Cameroon seeks to recruit an international Programme Analyst based in Yaoundé.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the overall supervision of the Programme Specialist, the international Programme Analyst international Programme Analyst will be responsible for:
Assist the implementation of UN Women Country Office Humanitarian programme funded by the Japanese Government based on the HNO, the Country Strategic Response Plan (SRP), the Humanitarian Sahel Strategy in partnership with UN system humanitarian actors;
Contribute to regular review and assessment of UN WOMEN's on humanitarian issues;
Support UN Women’s contribution to the existing inter-agency coordination mechanisms and enhance coherence of UN system in promoting gender equality concerns in link with the project;
Help the team in providing guidance to the executing agencies on routine implementation of projects, tracking use of financial resources;
Contribute to assemble briefing materials and prepare power-point and other presentations for the programme unit;
Participate in Identifying sources, and gather and compile data and information for the preparation of documents, guidelines, speeches and position papers;
Assist the programme team in the audit of programmes/projects and support implementation of audit recommendations;
Assist Preparation of required budget revisions, revision of project award and project status, determination of unutilized funds, operational and financial close of a project;
Support the programme experts in the financial management of the Programme;
Contribute to organize, compile and process information from donors, and programme team, as inputs to various databases and documents;
Support the Programme team in the tracking and reporting on mobilized resources;
Help to provide administrative support to the Programme Team in the organization of events, meetings and workshops etc.;
Help to maintain and organize up to date hard and electronic files for easy access and retrieval;
Ensure safekeeping of confidential materials;
Assist in preparation of presentation material/slides in Power-point for presentations for the meetings/workshops and keep all papers ready for meetings;

Deliverables and Timeline:
Inception Report outlining the methodology, approach for expected results;
First Draft Report of the review’s findings, detailing the progress made, as well as challenges encountered, towards realizing the purpose and scope of the project Provision of life-saving integrated GBV Services and Protection for women and girls refugees in Adamaoua and East Regions of Cameroon. The report will also identify gaps and contain recommendations on how further progress can be made;
Finalized Draft Proposal for the extension of the Project;
Final Report in English of the review’s findings, incorporating main observations raised during the implementation including recommendations on how to take the intervention to a higher level;

Programme and policy analysis, strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation and field experience in developing country contexts;
Substantive and technical experience in inter-agency coordination, experience working with governments, donors and civil society organizations internationally and in the field;
General knowledge and experience related to current policies and practices in the fields of gender equality, humanitarian action and economic empowerment;
Good communication skills, with some experience in writing cogent and convincing policy and programme documents
Proven analytical and problem solving skills;
Good planning, goal-setting and prioritization skills;
Ability to leverage information technology, executive information systems, management techniques and tools for optimal office performance;
Computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Atlas and others).
Language:
Written and oral proficiency in English or French is required;
Knowledge of Japanese is an asset.
