The presidency of the Republic has released a communique concerning the double suicide bombings which occurred Wednesday afternoon in Maroua.
The release signed by the Minister Secretary General at the Presidency, Ferdinand Ngo Ngo, and broadcast on the 5pm news on the National Station, states that two terrorists detonated themselves at
about 2.30pm in the Barmare neighborhood and the entrance to the Maroua Central Market. The attack left 13 people dead, including the two suicide bombers, and 32 injured.
The release further states that President of the Republic strongly condemns the cowardly and disdainful attacks perpetrated on innocent populations and expresses heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, while wishing a speedy recovery to the injured. President Paul Biya has also reiterated his call to the population to be alert and collaborate with security forces, while assuring that prescribed measures to stop the heinous activities of terrorists are ongoing, and will be successful.
