If you haven't seen these photos, then you probably don't live like many of us do, on the Internet. These pics were all over social media last weekend, and the Caucasian man being searched by police, was rumored to be a terrorists caught with explosives.
I REFUSED TO CARRY THE STORY ON THIS BLOG, BECAUSE THERE WAS NO PROOF. There was no proof of of explosives in sight, and it was a very serious allegation. At this period where the country is going through unprecedented events,(and at any other time for that matter), it's important to fact-check every information before publishing. So rather than go with the rumor, I stayed mute on the story.Well, it's been debunked.
Mutations newspaper reports that the man, was apprehended in the Briquetterie neighborhood in Yaounde on Friday July 24, 2015, for suspicious behavior . He had been taking pictures of mosques, and was smoking cigarettes. This possibly led some individuals to call the police, who searched the man and questioned him. Turns out he's a reporter, putting together a documentary on the upsurge of terrorism in the country.
Security forces have nonetheless praised the reaction of the inhabitants who called the police to report what they saw as suspicious behavior.
