Soldier Crowned Traditional Ruler Is Called To Avoid Military Rule

He is only 29 years old, he is a soldier with the Rapid Intervention Battalion, BIR, and now he is chief of Bwassa in Buea Sub-Division. John Ewome Eko, was installed as Chief of Bwassa, on October 31st 2014, during a traditional coronation ceremony which was preceded by heavy rain. Many interpreted this as the washing away of the past and
 the ushering in of a new dawn.During the coronation ceremony at the Bwassa Royal Palace, whose highlights were displays by the famous ‘Malay’ traditional group, the Chiefs of Buea drilled Ewome Eko through a rigorous spiritual ritual in the Bwassa village shrine.  After thirty minutes of the initiation rites, HRH Chief John Ewome Eko was brought out of the shrine to the tunes of a spectacular traditional dance and presented to the joyous and applauding crowd.
In his installation address, the Divisional Officer for Buea, Kouam Wokam Paul called on HRH Chief Paul Ewome Eko to govern the over 1500 inhabitants of Bwassa village with humanity, wisdom, and impartiality.  
While saluting the bravery of the 29-year-old soldier of the Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR) who works at Man’O Bay near Limbe, the DO warned him not to apply military rule in governing his subjects as it will put him off the course.The crowned chief of Bwassa takes over from his late father, Chief Ewome Njie, six years after his passing away on November 9, 2008. He is married and father of three
