Township Taxis Henceforth Allowed To Circulate Beyond TheirRegistration Zone

Good news for many of you out there, taxis are now allowed to circulate beyond their sub-divisions, and in some areas, even beyond their division.
Prior to now, the law stipulated that township taxis operate only within the sub-division where they are registered(where they obtained their "capacite"). However, a decision signed yesterday November 17, by the Minister of Transport, Robert Nkili, now allows taxis to circulate beyond these boundaries. Now they can go to peripheries of the towns where they operate,as long as alternative modes of
transport are inexistent in those areas. This because the areas where taxis operate have grown in terms of population, but without any commensurate development of urban transport.
What this simply means is that a taxi operating in Yaounde for example, can now ply the Soa route. A taxi which operates in Kumbo, can now ply the Jakiri route. Before now, only "Clandos" were allowed to ply those routes. Before now, police men would give taxi drivers a hard time, if they were found moving from one sub-division to another.
Now...policemen will have to turn their faces because taxi drivers are henceforth permitted by the law.
