"Cargo" Buses Taken Off The Streets In Douala

Those of you who don't live in Douala, may not immediately know what the "Cargo" bus is, but these old and rickety 20-something-Seater buses, are a popular means of transportation within the city, especially between Bonaberi and parts of town across the bridge.
Well, effective from last wednesday November 5, 2014, the "Cargo" buses have been suspended. The Senior Divisional Officer for Wouri, took this decision, following an incident which occurred on
Tuesday November 4, when a bus recklessly drove into a crowd of people, leaving 4 people seriously injured.
Wouri S.D.O, Naseri Paul Bea's decision demands that all "Cargo" buses in the division be taken off the road until further notice.

These buses are veritable death traps. Its difficult to forget the accident two weeks ago which saw one of such buses dive into a muddy river in Douala, killing 5 people.
But, what will fill the void left by their being taken off the streets, in a town like Douala with its public transport inadequacies?
