Remember I told you yesterday that the minister of Transport has signed a decision allowing urban taxis circulate freely to peripheral areas. Read Here if you missed it.
Well, this decision does not sit well with bus drivers in Fako division, (and in many other areas, I can imagine). They see it as bad for business, stating that they are now facing stiff competition from taxis
, since they no longer have the monopoly of plying from one town to another. Taxis can now transport customers from Buea to Tiko, Limbe, Mutengene, etc, without being flagged by the Police.

The Regional Delegate for Transport, Ivo Vevanje, has however shrugged off these complaints, telling the bus drivers to do all in their means to ensure proper competition by keeping their buses clean.
To the township taxi drivers, Mr. Vevanje says they must avoid overload and make sure their vehicles are registered.
However, some see trouble in the future with this new development, fearing that theft and assaults will increase now, especially between Tiko and Mutengene.
