OMG! OMG! Must-Read Story of Divine Protection!

Oh my goodness!  Reading this story about the ordeal which my friend and someone whom I have tons of respect for, Mabu Nfinyo, my jaw kept dropping lower and lower in horror, amazement, and awe! It's a long read, but please read it to the end. It's sounds like fiction, but it is oh so true.

MY 3 DAY ODYSSEY: 4 FUNERALS, AN ATTACK BY MANY HEAVILY ARMED HIGHWAY ROBBERS, A TYRE PUNCTURE, AND THE COBRA.

(This is long, crazy and very interesting. Sorry I can’t make it any shorter).

Thursday 19th March 2015 at 22:42, a Whatsapp message hits my phone from my Aunty Ms. Goodness Kinyang who is in the UK: ‘Cover yourself with the blood of Jesus wherever you go, even to Nigeria and stay blessed’. I was already in Bamenda, from Yaounde and now on my way to the village for the funeral of my young Aunt Marie Noelle Machu Memba Kinyang who died at the age of 28, and just 1 year 3 months after her wedding to my uncle Barrister Kinyang George.

Friday 20th March 2015 at about 12:30 while in the car on my way from Bamenda to my village; Lassin-Noni, in Bui Division - North West Region of Cameroon , I receive a strange call from Pastor Terence Kanjo which I paraphrase: “President(in french)…, where are you? I have just received a strange phone call from one of my daughters in Dschang, and I am presently in Ebolowa. You don’t

Alex Song's Future Is Uncertain

Alex Song’s future is uncertain – but the midfielder is keen to stay in London

Alex Song’s future at West Ham looks uncertain, as the club begin planning for next season.

Former Arsenal midfield star Song, signed on a season-long loan from Barcelona at the beginning of this season, made an impressive start to his return to English football but has suffered a dip in form and fitness since Christmas.

West Ham must soon decide whether to make a permanent bid for the 27-year-old Cameroon international during the summer or end their interest.
It would need a considerable financial package to secure Song permanently. He is contracted to Barcelona until 2017 and would command a considerable transfer fee while his £80,000 per week wages could also be a problem.

There have have persistent rumors about the impending shortage of refined sugar in the country, a shortage which is being rumored to hit the country during the peak period of Ramadan in June 2015. But the ministry of Trade has put these unfounded rumors to rest.
Let me provide some background information on this whole shortage issue. In 2014, the Cameroon government limited the importation of refined sugar to 50,000 tonnes, down from 90,000 tonnes. This move is meant to protect the local sugar industry. But it did not sit well with importers. Keep reading..

CPDM Is 30

March 24, 1985 - March 24, 2015. Exactly 30 years since the Cameroon Peoples Democratic Movement, was born out the ashes of the Cameroon National Union, the CNU, in the Hilltop city of Bamenda.
Happy 30th anniversary.
It's chairman and President of the Republic, has been credited with ushering in democracy into thé country, credited for his preference, and maintainance of peace, case in point, Bakassi , credited with development strides, and much more. On the flip-side, many think 30 years is the age of an entire generation :)

Sister of Skid Row man killed by police ‘in a state of shock’

The sister of Charly Leundeu Keunang, the homeless man who was shot to death by Los Angeles police officers on Skid Row last month, has told KPCC that she is “in a state of shock” after learning of her brother’s death.

Speaking by phone, Line Marquise Keunang declined an interview, but shared details about her brother via a local man she said would act as a family spokesman.
Keunang family spokesman David Singui told KPCC earlier this week that Keunang had been in close contact with his mother and sister who live in Massachusetts, and had even spoken to them the

FIFA Extends Mandate Of Normalisation Committee By 6 Extra Months!

Joseph Owona, President FECAFOOT Normalisation Committee

Wowza! Who saw this coming? Seems like Massa Yo and his team will still be around for much longer. The World Football governing body, FIFA, has just extended the mandate of the FECAFOOT Normalisation committee led by Joseph Owona, by an extra six months, after their mandate expired yesterday March 20, 2015. This is a committee which was set up by FIFA in July 2013, to oversee the putting in place of an executive management body for FECAFOOT. Their mandate has seen several extensions, Feb. 28, 2015, March 20, 2015, and now, for yet another six months.

This umpteenth extension (ok, maybe not umpteenth, but 4th), by FIFA, obviously wasn't expected by the likes of Roger Milla, football icon and roving ambassador, who in an interview granted Camer Post recently, expressed his wish to see the mandate end on March 20. He went on to add, when questioned about the possibility of becoming FECAFOOT president, that he would seize that opportunity if ever it came his way.
Would you be open to the idea of Roger Milla becoming FECAFOOT President?

Here's how Cameroon Tribune reports it.

Joël Nana Kontchou  /  Eneo M.D

That massive percentage in the headline was provided by the Managing Director of Eneo, Joël Nana Kontchouwho has stated that the electricity network in the country is really bad, and this means the transformers have to work beyond their capacity. According to Business in Cameroon , the M.D made this statement during a visit to Garoua, which has been subjected to significant power cuts (which area of the country is spared from these annoying outages btw?).

Joel Nana Kontchou, the Managing Director of Eneo, the country’s public electricity company in Cameroon, summed up the country’s electricity situation by saying: “We have to cut out the evil at the root.

Tchiroma Lambasts French Article Which Stated that Biya Suffers Prostate Cancer

Ok, French newspaper, Le Monde's online edition, wrote a very unflattering article last March 13, about the supposed reasons for which President Paul Biya went for a private visit to Europe.
According to the article, President Biya was in Europe for medical attention, and was said to be suffering from Prostate cancer. His wife, first lady, Mrs Chantal Biya, on her part, was said to be meeting her doctors for a check-up, after allegedly undergoing surgery in 2013 to treat cervical cancer. The article equally alleged that the presidential couple left Yaounde separately, and were in different countries for their medical conditions.
The article was corrected/update thrice.
The Minister of Communication, and Government spokesperson, Issa Tchiroma Bakari, has not taken this lying down. Speaking during a press conference today, March 16, 2015, he strongly condemned the publication. Minister Tchiroma qualified the article as misinformation, and an attempt to taint the reputation of the presidential couple.

At Least 14 Belgians Said To Have Died Searching For Love In Cameroon

Lambert on his wedding day with Christelle

They came seeking exotic Cameroonian beauties, but left, stone cold dead, in a coffin. At least 14 Belgian men, in the past 10 years, have reportedly lost their lives after meeting with the lovers they hooked up with online.
According to La Meuse  website, the son of one of the victims (Lambert pictured above) has spoken out, stating that his father was trapped.
Investigations are ongoing in Belgium, since 2011, with the first case dating as far back as 2005.

The cases are similar. Old man meets young woman online. He comes visiting, they contract a marriage, he wires huge sums of money to the lady, and then later dies in mysterious circumstances. In the case of Lambert, traces of poison are said to have been found in his system, after an autopsy.

Future of E! Fashion Police Uncertain, 2nd Host Leaves Show

All is not rosy at all, seems like my fav tv prog(when Joan Rivers was host), is falling apart like a pack of cards. Kathy Griffin is the 2nd host, after Kelly Osbourne, to abandon the show, in the wake of Guiliana's gaffe.

Last month, during the Oscar's edition of Fashion Police presenter Giuliana Rancic commented on singer Zendaya's dreadlocks commenting “I feel like she smells like patchouli oil and weed”.
In the ensuing media storm Kelly Osbourne, who has been a presenter on the show for five years, quit the programme and today the show's main host Kathy Griffin also announced her departure.
Griffin explained in a length note on Twitter: "After 7 episodes of Fashion Police, I discovered that my style doesn't fit with the creative direction of the show."

The American TV series, which first launched in 2010, has struggled for direction since the sudden death of its iconic presenter Joan Rivers in September last year.

At the time it was unclear whether the show would go on without Rivers who many considered to be irreplaceable. Rancic explained to ABC:

"A part of me is like Joan would want Melissa [Rivers] and us and the team to go on and I know she would, but it's just a matter of can there be a show without Joan? Do we want to do a Fashion Police without Joan? I don't know."

Although various names are rumoured to be in talks to take Osbourne's place including Khloe Kardashian and Chrissy Teigan, now with another empty slot and the aftermath of the race row, the shows future seems more uncertain than ever.
The official line from E! is that the programme will continue with the next episode schedule for 30 March and hosts Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski still on board.

Mountain Race Athlete Sick, Needs Prize Money To Foot Medical Bill

When will this deadlock end, and the athletes receive their money.  It's their freaking due for crying out loud. One of them, (not Gabsibuin, pictured below), Essombe Lyonga, is sick and says the money will come in handy. See what Crtv Sports Desk Editor, Simon Lyonga, had to say about the subject, once again, in a Facebook post, below.

'Cameroonian athlete Essombe Lyonga who was 3rd in the Mount Cameroon Race of Hope 2015 edition is sick and in hospital in Buea. He told me on phone, "if Guinness had given me my money (2 millions francs), I would easily pay my hospital bills" '

2015 Mountain Race Winners Still Haven't Collected Their Prizes

Na wa oh. I reported it here a couple of weeks ago, that the 2015 Guiness Mountain Race winners, were yet to see the colour of their money.
This morning, I came across this Facebook post by Crtv Radio Sports desk Editor, Simon Lyonga, confirming this, and condemning such an attitude from the organisers.

"Down Score Guinness. 24 days after the 2015 edition of the Mount Cameroon Race of Hope in Buea, the various winners in the men and ladies categories are still to receive their cash prize. The athletes say Guinness told them to wait, Guinness say they don`t have the contact of the athletes to wire the money while the federation officials say they gave the details to Guinness. The athletes are crying for salvation."

Lawyer Alice Nkom Urges World Support For Her Fight Against Anti-GayLegislation

Alice Nkom, a Cameroonian lawyer, was recognised for her work in defending gay rights in Africa with an award from Amnesty International in 2014.
Despite death threats, Alice Nkom is taking on Cameroon’s repressive law in the supreme court and says her campaign is part of a wider struggle for human rights
Alice Nkom knows she might not be alive today were it not for international support for her battle to defend homosexuals in Cameroon. But now she wants the world to do more to breathe life into the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and make it tangible for all, including gay people in Africa. Nkom, a lawyer, has been in London to drum up support – both financial and moral – for her decade-long fight for homosexual rights in Cameroon, one of 38 African countries in which homosexuality is

Eto'o Wins Anti-Racism Award

Eto’o poses with the Medal of Tolerance at a gala in London, on March 9, 2015

Samuel Eto’o’s inspiring stand against racism won him an award Monday, as the European Council warned that prejudice still stalked the game in Europe.
The former Cameroon and Barcelona striker was to receive the Medal of Tolerance from the European Council at a Tolerance and Reconciliation gala dinner in London’s Kensington Palace, the home of Britain’s Prince William and his wife Kate.
“The last year has been a particularly challenging one for football in terms of hate and racism,” the four-time African Player of the Year said in a statement.

Does 3rd List Resolve The IRIC Controversy?

A third and final list of candidates admitted to the Professional Master of International Relations, Diplomacy section of the International Relations Institute of Cameroon IRIC, was published yesterday March 09 , 2015, by the Minister of Higher Education, Jacques Fame Ndongo, including 6 candidates whose names featured in the 1st list published last week, but were dropped when a 2nd list came out hours later.
This brings the number of students admitted to the Diplomacy section, this year, to 21, instead of the 15 places initially available.
Speaking on Crtv National Station (1pm news in French), the Higher Education Minister said this third list was published on the instruction of the Head of State.
I was watching the 7.30pm news on tv last night, and a learned Professor said the 6 names  were dropped off the list, on account of Regional Balance, and the other names were included for reasons of "Positive Discrimination" .
SMH.
But with the ensuing hue and cry from the dropped candidates and the public in general, pressure was exerted from above, and the meritorious students who were dropped, are now reinstated.
What do you guys think about this saga, and does this third list, end the controversy?

France, Cameroon Wouldn't Take Foreigner Later Shot by LAPD

               Cameroon Embassy In Washington DC
LOS ANGELES (AP) — U.S. immigration authorities said Wednesday they were forced by Supreme Court precedent to release a foreigner later shot to death by police on Los Angeles’ Skid Row after he served prison time for bank robbery because no country would take him.
France issued travel documents for a man identified as Charley Saturmin Robinet but rescinded them in June 2013 after determining it was an assumed name and that the man was really from Cameroon, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said in a statement.ICE, which issued a deportation order in April 2013, said Cameroon consular officials failed to respond to repeated requests for travel documents after France spurned him.
The man told authorities he was from Cameroon and gave a different name — Keunang — after

Homeless man shot dead by L.A police had stolen Frenchman's identity tofollow Hollywood dream

The homeless man shot dead by police in Los Angeles was a convicted bank robber – who arrived in Hollywood hoping to make it as an actor after stealing Frenchman’s identityThe 39-year-old identified by police after his death as Charley Saturmin Robinet was actually using a fake identity, stolen from a Frenchman, to try and make a career in Hollywood.
When a black homeless man was shot dead by police on Skid Row on Sunday, the shooting was seen as yet another example of white policemen in the United States being too quick to reach for their guns. But the full story behind the man’s death – and his remarkable life – has emerged as something far more complex.
