I wanted to do this at the stroke of midnight, but I'm just too excited, I can't wait. Here's to wishing you  every good thing in life you've ever wished for. 

I'm so grateful for many things this 2014. Thankful for God's goodness in my life. Thankful for my WONDERFUL family. Thankful for my job. And last but not least, thankful that I stopped toying with the IDEA of starting a blog, and ACTUALLY started one. And it's been the most fulfilling adventure ever.

Full Address Of The Head Of State To The Nation December 31, 2014

Fellow Cameroonians,
My dear compatriots,

It was our hope, following a period of intensive political activity, that as 2014 was not an election year, we would be free to devote ourselves primarily to reviving our economic growth which, as you are aware, is a prerequisite for improving the living conditions of our populations.

Such was not exactly the case owing to the escalation of attacks against our national territory by the Boko Haram sect. Besides this, there were the criminal activities of armed gangs on our border with the Central African Republic.

Initially, the Boko Haram terrorist organization carried out raids to seize isolated hostages or loot public or private property.

Buoyed by their grip on north-eastern Nigeria, the so-called “jihadists” launched major attacks on the Far-North Region of our country, for instance, the attack on the workers’ camp of a Chinese company at Waza and the raid on Kolofata, resulting in several deaths and the abduction of many hostages.

This could not be tolerated. We therefore

Head of State's December 31st Speech Dedicated to Security and TheEconomy

The President of the Republic has just addressed the nation in his tradtional December 31st speech. A speech which dwelled unsurprisingly on two key issues: Security and the Economy.

President Paul Biya extensively spoke on the incursions of Boko Haram on Cameroonian soil which gathered steam in 2014. This he stated was not to be tolerated as our nation has responded with its military might, to fight the terrorist organisation, that does not subscribe to the values of a fraternal society. The Head of State thus paid glowing tribute to the Defense Forces. 

President Paul Biya then spoke on the state of the nation's economy, stating that most of the projects stated in his 2013 December 31st address, were achieved this year. Notably, 

Douala Photographer Killed In Accident Upon Return From Work At AWedding

Poor guy, he had finished a good day of work, after taking pictures of a wedding, and on his return, was killed by the car pictured above.

Eye witnesses at the scene say Andre Germain Sob Kam, the photographer, was violently hit by the car at the Chapelle UEBC, Akwa Nord, alongside his photographer colleague Christian Roger Ndjem. Both of them were on a bike, on their way back home to Ndogpassi from Bonamoussadi where they had just finished working.

Both were rushed to the Deido district hospital where Sob Kam gave up the ghost.

Poor guy...poor family who will be inconsolable that their son, husband ,brother, died of an accident, on the eve of the New Year.

Guys, let's all be grateful to God for our lives because we can't claim that we are any better than those who are visited by misfortune.

AirAsia Woes: Another Aircraft Carrying 153 Overshoots Runway InPhilippines!

    

It never rains but pours. This 2nd incident will spell economic doom for AirAsia. Two days after an AirAsia airliner carrying 163 people plunged into the sea, another one carrying 153 passengers overshot the runway at an airport in the Philippines today December 30th, forcing passengers to disembark the aircraft on emergency slides.
The incident occurred at Kalibo Airport in Aklan province in Philippines according to a journalist Jet Damazo-Santos who was on board and shared the photo above on Twitter. "Engine was shut immediately, we were told to leave bags, deplane asap. Firetruck was waiting,' she said
There have been no word from AirAsia officials about this latest incident but according to Jet, no passenger was injured in this latest mishap.

Breaking! AirAsia Crash: Over 40 Bodies Found Floating At Sea

  

Oh no! The worst has been confirmed. An Indonesian warship has recovered more than 40 bodies from the sea minutes ago in the search for the AirAsia jet, a navy spokesman told AFP.

“Based on the navy radio, it has been reported that the warship Bung Tomo has retrieved 40 bodies and the number is growing. They are very busy now,” Mr Manahan Simorangkir said.

Earlier, Indonesia's media outlets reported that Indonesian warship KRI Bung Tomo has found six bodies, and retrieved three, citing local broadcaster TV One.
It is trying to rescue other bodies being tossed by strong waves.

Teacher Dismissed After Using Cello-Tape To Shut Noisy Child's Mouth

Earlier this week, a teacher in Florida, Valerie Ertel allegedly used cello-tape to close the mouth of a little 6 year old boy, Josh Moreno.

According to Josh's mother, Jacque, Ertel taped the boy's mouth from cheek to cheek, causing his mouth to bleed upon the tape's removal. When Jacque asked what happened, Josh said the teacher taped his mouth because he was talking too much. Jacque confronted Ertel, who offered neither an explanation nor an apology for her actions.

These photographs show debris from what could be the wreckage of Flight QZ8501.
The pictures were taken by a photographer from French news agency Agence France-Press from a search aircraft 105 miles off the coast of Pangkalanbun, Indonesia.
According to AFP, the items resemble a plane door and an emergency slide.

Unopened Email Saves Family Who Would Have Boarded ill-Fated AirAsiaPlane

An Indonesian family reportedly missed boarding Flight QZ8501 after they failed to read an email from AirAsiaadvising them of a change in departure time.Ari Putro Cahyono and nine members of his family would have boarded the Singapore-bound flight on Sunday had it not been for the unread message.

Over 100 Suspected Boko Haram Militants Killed By Cameroonian Army

   

YAOUNDE, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) — More than 100 suspected Nigerian Islamic sect Boko Haram militants were killed and over 200 arrested during an operation conducted by Cameroonian army on Friday night in Far-North Region of Cameroon, an army source told Xinhua over phone Saturday.

The Lions Coach Volker Finke, has recalled Aurelien Chedjou for the preparatory phase in view of the upcoming Africa Nations Cup holding in Equatorial Guinea from Jan. 17 to Feb. 08.

OMG 4 Children From One Family Burnt To Death

   

This is just too much to bear for one family. Jesus! Four children from the same parents :Chioma Ofomata, 6, Goodness& Mercy Ofomata who were twins, 3, and Ifeoma, 2, were burnt to death in Umuele, Nnewi, Anambra State, Nigeria at their three-bedroom apartment.

The young player Indomitable Lion, Brice Nlate Ekongolo, was victim of a car accident in Yaounde Friday night. According to Soleil Roger Nyassa, Director General of Canon Sportif Yaounde, Ekongolo had been returning from Mfou, not far from Yaounde, when he had a head-on collision with another vehicle. This he added, has left the player with a leg fracture and other serious injuries.
