The minister of trade Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana, has just suspended the measure increasing the prices of beer and other alcoholic drinks, which took effect from January 1, 2015. This as bar owners had already increased the prices of beer by 200frs per bottle.
The Trade Minister in a communique , stated that the measure to increase beer prices has been suspended "until further notice".
Could this decision by the the minister have been taken to measure allow old and existing stocks of beer and alcoholic drinks to be sold off? I don't know...perhaps.
Meanwhile, the site Cameroon-info.net, is reporting that Consumer Rights Associations in the country recently sprung into action, getting a petition with 5000 signatures, against the recent price hikes. They protested against not being consulted by the minister of Finance, before the decision was taken, and adopted by Parliament.
What do you think about the minister's decision guys? Yayyyyy or nay? I think I can hear plenty of yays...lol

I thought the price increase was a good measure to curb alcoholism. I will like to know the ministers reason for suspending the new price
Nayyyyyy
Alcoholics will pay the bill. Just not much will be left for others. Government and Brewers are the big winners. Families and ordinary guys re the big losser. Prices increased beyond inflation is not justified. Energy prices are falling globally so manufacturing costs are low. Why the increases they should tell us.
I think the price hikes may help to reduce excess consumption.
AM JUST SO INDIFFERENT TO ANY DECISION THEY TAKE.I DON'T DRINK BEER.IF IT WAS THE PRICE OF GARRI THEY TAMPERED WITH EH HEIN...LOL
i just wish it goes into effect very soon.
