The former Cameroonian and Bundesliga player has joined Shkendija to become the most famous foreigner to ever play in the Macedonian league.Idrissou has had a lengthy European career, playing mostly in Germany with the likes of FSV Frankfurt, Wehen, Hannover 96, Duisburg, Freiburg, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Eintracht Frankfurt and Kaiserslautern. He made a total of 139 Bundesliga appearances plus 164 in the 2.Bundesliga with a scoring record of 27 and 68 goals, respectively. Born in Yaoundé, he started his career in the youth academy of Racing Club de Bafoussam before moving to Coton Sport from where he went to Europe. While in Germany, he went on a 6-month loan to French side Caen. In the summer of 2014 he moved from Kaiserslautern to Israeli side Maccabi Haifa, ending his long spell in Germany.
Shkendija has made a big surprise among Macedonian football fans by bringing in the former national team striker of Cameroon, Mahamadou Idrissou. Now 34-years-old (he will be 35 in early March), Idrissou made 41 appearances for the the Indomitable Lions and has been part of the squad that appeared in 5 major tournaments: the 2010 FIFA World Cup, the 2003 FIFA Confederations Cup and three Africa Cup of Nations in 2004, 2008 and 2010. He managed 9 goals for his national team. Also, he was part of the team that faced and beat Macedonia 2:0 in a friendly last year. Meanwhile, he wasn’t called up for the other friendly that Macedonia and Cameroon played back in February of 2011 i Skopje.
In Shkendija he comes as a free agent after he only made 5 league appearances for Maccabi Haifa. Currently he isn’t in top notch form, but knowing the quality of the Macedonian league he shouldn’t have problems acclimating to the speed of the game. He signed a 1-year contract with the Red&Blacks team from Tetovo.
