Moukandjo Explains The Failure of The Lions

Benjamin Moukandjo, is one of the few players who has been speaking to the media, giving n explanation of the Lions short-lived participation at the Africa Cup of Nations. And he is ready to admit to their share of the blame.

Cameroon striker Benjamin Moukandjo has admitted that the lack of attacking efficiency is what cost them an early exit in the Africa Cup of Nations taking place in Equatorial Guinea.
The Indomitable Lions recorded two one all draws with Mali and Guinea before finally being knocked off by Ivory Coast in the group D stages by 1-0.
Although the four time Africa Cup of Nations winners have not been at their best in recent years, there was hope that they would bounce back in this tournament.
Striker Benjamin Moukandjo said they missed so many scoring opportunities as well.
“Overall, in our three games, we lacked attacking efficiency. We always succeed in taking the spaces and making the difference but we often missed the
last move or the last pass.
“If we didn’t have chances to score, we could have asked ourselves some questions. We created many chances but lacked efficiency,” said Moukandjo.
The Stade de Reims forward said he felt that they were able to keep the fighting spirit till the end which is their strength.
“Our strength is our spirit, and what is encouraging is that we kept this spirit. The group didn’t explode following our results.
“I can repeat it 100 times, everything was going well between those who played and those who didn’t. It’s the people outside the group who were talking,” he said.
