Foetus Found In River Mfoundi

The inhabitants of Mvog Atangana Mballa, Yaounde were in a state of shock yesterday March 17, 2015 as they discovered a foetus of about six months amidst rubbish floating in the River Mfoundi that flows behind the Mvog-Mbi market and other neighbourhoods in that area. Reports say it was about 5:00 p.m. when some passersby noticed the some whitish object floating in the water. They immediately realised that it was a foetus and ran into water to get it. One of the inhabitants of the area, Bikay Constantin said the foetus was floating a basin from the Mvog Atangana Mballa Bridge and due to the obstacles on the river bed the contents of the basin overturned and the foetus was carried away by the water. The foetus was brought out of the water at about 6:00 p.m. and the forces of law and order were informed immediately.
Passersby around the area stood in small groups wondering who could have committed such an act. Some onlookers wished they could lay hands on the perpetrator of the act so that she can be severely. Some eyewitness who opted for anonymity said the woman must have had an abortion at home and decided to discard the baby. According to the inhabitants, the act was committed not long before as the remains of the foetus were still fresh. “That woman needs to be punished,” said one passerby. At press time the gendarmerie was yet to begin arrive the scene for investigations to begin.
