NCC Seals Afrique Media

The National Communication Council, has sealed the premises of the Pan-African channel, Afrique Media in Yaounde. Armed with the press release sanctioning the measure, by the Vice President of the National Communication Council, Police Commissioner Evelyn Ngoe Besumbu, proceeded to seal the building yesterday August 08, 2015, in the afternoon. This was in the presence of the Director of Afrique Media, Gustave Sing.

The National Communication Council last month slammed Afrique Media a one month suspension, and two of its journalists, Juliana Magne Tadda and Bachir Ladan, for professional misconduct.
The NCC's sanction, was thus put into action yesterday with the sealing of the channel's Yaounde office.
Yet, up until last night, the channel continued to broadcast, (from its studios in Douala). Speaking on the 8pm news last night, the Vice President of the National Communication Council, Peter Esoka, described this continued broadcasting by Afrique Media despite the sealing of its Yaounde headquarters, as "defiance".

The Afrique Media office in Douala, is expected to suffer the same fate.
