11 Year Old Girl Gives Birth In Bertoua

An 11 year old primary school pupil from Belabo, Linda Nyanang, on Saturday January 17 2015, birthed a baby boy. Weighing 2.68Kg, the baby was born at the Bertoua Regional Hospital. Mme Beng Marie Chantal, a Midwife and Head Nurse at the hospital who assisted in the delivery said although it was a high-risk pregnancy, and the little girl was expected to deliver by C-Section, the the delivery was successful, without any need for an operation. The little girl however had to undergo an episiotomy, to enable the baby pass through. She was
accompanied by her grandmother, Emilienne Madari Koffi, and her aunt, Yvette Messina Dassi.
The day before the delivery, the 11 year old's family had dragged the presumed author of the pregnancy to the Belabo Gendarmerie Brigade. The Form Four Student of Lycee de Belabo whose only name was gotten as Moise, denied the pregnancy.

The little girl who was also present for the questioning, went into labour and was rushed 80km away, to the Bertoua Regional Hospital, given that it was a high-risk pregnancy.

Her family says it wants justice, and for the pre-teen mother and new born baby to be cared for.

Hmmm! Where did the little girls have the courage to sleep with a man? Thank God the birth was successful.
