So, on the night of July 01, 2015, the statue of the late French General, Leclerc, in Bonanjo, in the city of Douala, was vandalised. This young man, pictured above with the head of the statue in 2014, is chief suspect, having decapitated the statue last year, and proudly posed with it. The self-styled
activist Andre Blaise Essama, on his Facebook page said he was interrogated over the issue, He has also stated that he would rather see the statue of the late Reuben Um Nyobe, in the place of the statue of General Leclerc.
