François Hollande Pledges to Intensify Coperation with Cameroon



The President of the Republic of Cameroon and the President of the French Republic, have just granted a press conference at the Unity Palace. 
President Paul Biya, described the tête à tête he had with President François Hollande, as convivial, and a convergence of views. Concerted action is needed he said, to stop the deadly activities of Boko Haram. He has thanked President Hollande for his help in this fight, as well as for French intervention in Mali, and the Central African Republic. 
President Biya revealed that their discussions hinged in the political situation in Cameroon, the consolidation of democracy, the promotion of human rights, the regularity of elections, the fight against corruption, and more.
Both leaders also spoke about issues of immigration and the need for the international community to do reflect on ways of offering hopes to migrants. 
President Francois Hollande on his part, acknowledged that no French Head of State has visited Cameroon for almost 15 years. He equally acknowledged the fact that some parts of the history linking both countries may be painful, but must be reviewed, to better move ahead in the future. France is solidly with Cameroon he said, in the fight against Boko Haram. He confirmed that there
will be amplified cooperation in the domains of training, intelligence sharing, with France ready to provide surveillance images of zones over which French aviation is currently operating.
He thanked Cameroon for its hospitality in hosting refugsaid the international community must be informed about the tens of thousands of refugees and displaced persons currently in Cameroon. This situation warrants attention as this could aggravate poverty. 
President Holland also spoke on the 3rd phase of the French Debt servicing and Development Contract C2D, which will finance new projects. 
There can be no progress without peace, democracy, an independent justice system, he added.
