What Amount of Exercise Will You Need To Burn Calories Consumed onChristmas Day?

Feeling guilty about the calories you consumed at Christmas dinner? Not all of us ate the kind of meal in this picture, but we certainly ate a good deal of achu, fufu, kahti kahti, eru, cake, drinks etc.

The bad news is that a team of scientists say it will take you 727 minutes of exercise to work off the average Christmas Day meal !!
For those who overindulged on the Chicken, the sobering reality is the 4,500 calories piled on during the festive feast will require 12 hours and seven minutes to shift.
On average we consume two-and-a-half times more than we’re supposed to at Christmas - and up to a whopping 6,000 calories throughout the day.

A team of sports scientists who work with Premier League stars has produced a DNA-based programme to help the general public battle the festive bulge..
Genes tested include FTO, the ‘fat gene’ which scientists have discovered can make fatty foods more tempting.

It can also tell whether you have a sensitivity to saturated fat or refined carbohydrates, making you more likely to put on weight if you eat foods that contain them.
DNAFit’s Andrew Steele, a Team GB 400m runner and fitness expert, said: “When you consume over 4,000 calories in one meal and don’t do any activity other than eating, drinking and falling asleep on the sofa, a good workout will certainly help you feel better.

“We developed the Christmas DNA Meal Workout so people can put in perspective just how much activity they need to do to ‘offset’ a few mince pies or roast potatoes.”
Personalised nutrition is set to be the health trend for 2015. And a tailored diet matched to your DNA, has proved to be more successful than an unmatched one.
