Guardian Post Journalist Found Dead in Home in Yaounde

                                      Ezieh Sylvanus

The young journalist, Ezieh Sylvanus in his late 20's and Desk Editor at the renowned newspaper, the Guardian Post, was found dead in his bathroom, Monday night at 10pm in his Chapel Obili, one-room apartment.

The grim discovery came when worried colleagues and boss at the Guardian Post, Publisher Ngah Christian, went to the deceased's residence, after he failed to report to work on Monday. Even though Mondays are usually not busy at the Newspaper, it was unusual for Ezieh not to turn up for work, not answering his phone.
His door was locked from inside, and through the window, his body could be seen, lying on the bathroom floor, head in the toilet bowl.
The police forced the door open at about 1.30 am, and the body deposited at the Yaounde Central Hospital Mortuary.
According to the Publisher of the Guardian Post, an autopsy was carried out, with the initial report indicating that he was ELECTROCUTED.

A neighbour who is not named, says she heard the deceased scream twice in the wee hours of Monday morning, this was followed by heavy breathing, and then silence.
Ezieh had spent Sunday night with friends and colleagues, drinking until the early hours of Monday morning. He returned to his home, and his body was discovered Monday night, about 18 hours after he died.
Ezieh Sylvanus' Facebook page is awash with posts of shock, as colleagues and friends come to terms with his sudden and early demise.
He was one of the hosts at the Guardian Post 14th Anniversary which took place last Friday, August 28, 2015, in Yaounde.
Ezieh started out as a reporter with the newspaper, five years ago.
His older brother, the late Christopher Ezieh, was also a journalist who died in 2008, after an accident along the Tiko-Douala highway.

Personally, I'm also in shock, because I met this always-smiling young man during the Guardian Post anniversary last Friday, vibrant and full of life. May his soul rest in peace, may the Lord grant his family and the Guardian Post family, the fortitude to bear this loss.
And may we all keep our lives anchored to God.
